On 15 March 2018, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the first batch of products included in ‘conformity management catalogue of electrical and electronic products for restricted use of hazardous’.
It indicates China RoHS has finally reached its second management phase to restrict the use of hazardous substances on top of labelling and information disclosure requirements in phase I. There are 12 product categories (see below) in the first batch which shall not contain hazardous substances over the limits from 15 March 2019.

A number of ‘exceptions’ (similar to exemptions in EU RoHS) for certain applications are concurrently released along with the catalogue. However, ‘conformity assessment modes’ are still under close examination and yet to be determined.
